Kisses Blown + Creepers

Awkward things happen to me all the time.  Like the time I hugged the wrong person. Or the time I walked in on the married couple in the bathroom engaged in er…marital relations at a wedding.  You know, the totally un-normal things that remind me that sometimes, life is about laughing things off.  And at the rate I”m going, I’m sure that by the time I’m eighty, absolutely nothing will be able to embarrass me. We’ll see.

Wednesday at lunch, the sun was shining warmly through the windows.  The sky was a crisp, clear blue– the kind of sky that only appears at the brink of spring while everything’s starting to bloom and we’re blessed with allergy problems.  It’s states like ours that keep Claratin in business, I kid you not.

Anyways, I was sitting at a stop light, singing along with Adele as she belted “Someone Like You” from the speakers of my car and my blinker was tick-ticking as I waited my time to turn.  Then, out of the crowded intersection my eyes caught sight of my sister’s van coming towards me!  Excitement bubbles up and I immediately forget about the song and start waving, honking and blowing a huge kiss — you know, acting like a crazy person.  But my sister would expect nothing short of crazy so it’s totally normal for us.

As the car pulls towards me, I start to realize that the person in the driver’s seat doesn’t actually look like my sister at all.  And as he, yes, yes, HE came closer I began to realize I’d made a huge mistake.  A graying old man in a wife beater sped towards me and I KID YOU NOT– as he passed, he looked me dead in the eyes and blew me a kiss right back.

Um….creeper!

So be careful..when you’re in the car, and make sure you’re blowing kisses at the right people.  You never know who will be blowing one right back.
