I love documenting a first year. And I was SOO excited to meet up with our good friends, the Hannigans a couple of weeks ago to document Preston’s third month. I can’t believe it’s gone by so fast! It seems like just yesterday we were getting a call to go up to the hospital to meet this fun little guy.

His mom and dad are special to us. And the entire morning we were stalking facebook, ready to see pictures of the newest member of their family. And I was thrilled to get to spend some time with sweet little P last Saturday.

I was beyond thrilled when Amanda and emailed me about photographing the upcoming arrival of their son, Peyton. We’ve spent the past several weeks emailing back and forth — I having just given birth and she, anxiously waiting on their son to arrive. From the first email, we were kindred spirits in new mom-hood.

The day finally came and the Talley’s welcomed Peyton into the world. And I got to spend time yesterday with them and several members of their family and friends.

I promise, I’ll never forget the day she came from the other room wearing a grin from ear to ear holding a strand of black and white photos. It took a moment to sink in, that the small images she held in her tiny hands were showing God’s greatest miracle. I’ll never forget the pride that beamed from their faces. That was ten months ago.

Yesterday, we were on pins and needles. Waiting for the update that said he’d arrived safely. And when we did, we rejoiced and praised God for the blessing He’s bestowed upon two people we love so dearly.

Today, I spent my lunch break with them. And it was an honor to capture their memories.

To Jen and Scott- We couldn’t be more proud for you! You’ve become like family to us and from the deepest places in our hearts- congratulations! We love you — all three of you– so dearly. I wish that words could express how much you all mean to us — but sometimes they’re just not enough.

Aaaand now I can’t quit crying. So let’s move on to the photos, shall we?

Over the past couple of years, this family has become precious to us. And it was such an honor to have them in front of my camera this past Saturday morning.

Twas the Wednesday Before Christmas…

Yesterday, we went to the doctor for an ultra sound. We found out our little bean is a little boy! We are so excited to welcome the arrival of our son, Wilborn Kent Jones (Wil) in May! It’s amazing how just 8 weeks ago today, we were in the same ultrasound room anxiously looking for a tiny bean to appear on the screen. Now, that little bean has grown into a sweet potato size, whopping six ounce little boy whose full of energy! We had a great ultra sound and even got to take home a dvd of it. And I may or may not have watched it 10 times since yesterday. I can’t help it. Every time I see him stretch and yawn on that screen, my heart melts.

Last night, we had a “Team Bow Tie/ Team Bow” party at the house to reveal to our families who they’d be expecting come May. We piped blue icing into the center of cupcakes and had the family eat them to find out who was coming!

We also surprised them by making blue bow ties and pink bows for them to wear, representing their votes. Team Bow Tie WINS!

Now that we know our little Wil will be joining our family in a few months, it’s time to get started on the nursery! Luckily, I already had a pin board ready for either a boy or a girl, so we could get started immediately!

Thank you all so much for all your prayers! We are so thankful to be surrounded by so many family and friends to love our son with us! Love you all!

There’s nothing like the glow of new parents. Even the lack of sleep can’t wipe it from their faces.

When Tommy answered the door rubbing his eyes, I knew he was tired. But that didn’t stop his smile from spreading across his face when he said her name.

And when I saw Heather holding her new baby girl, tears nearly welled up in my eyes. There’s just nothing like watching a dear friend glow with abounding joy.

Congratulations Tommy and Heather! And Izzy– welcome to the world, precious girl. I’m honored to tell your story. :)

Holler!

First off, let me just say: I’ve missed you!

While the blog has been down for construction, I’ve longed for the days of uploading photos and sharing funny stories with you! Whether I’m on a new adventure or just sharing the ups and downs of every day life, you are always here for me to share my heart with. And when you’re not? Well, let’s just say I talk extra to try and make up for it. :)

I’ve taken this week or so of no blogging to really take a fresh look at what I want to share with you. I’ve got some exciting new ideas of post topics (including an FAQ series and a “For Photographers” series dedicated to the education of photographers.) The same old same old will still be thrown in the mix though! So don’t worry, any time I trip and fall in front of a large number of people, I’ll still let you know.

You will still see some minor changes to the blog as all the kinks are still being worked out. Thanks so much for your patience while it was down!
